“Postcards From The Heat”

September 15, 2010 § Leave a comment

Bikram Yoga NYC Blog is a highly-specialized blog that focuses solely on the yoga created by Bikram Choudhury. Bikram Yoga -also known simply as “hot yoga”- has stirred up quite a bit of controversy due to the extreme conditions in which it is practiced (check out the NYT article here.)

In a nutshell: Students gather in a room heated to 105°F with 40% humidity and follow a routine for 90 minutes.

“Bikram Yoga NYC” is a simple, casual blog that calms down whatever anxiety a prospective follower may face. There aren’t too many colors, photos or outside links–It definitely gets an A in the usability department. All the tags are grouped together on the right side of the home page so users can quickly be linked to a post based on whichever keyword/key phrase they choose. There is only one option on the navigation toolbar, and that is “home.” Simplicity at its finest. A couple suggestions, however, would be for there to be links to outside articles, and perhaps for there to be more than one author. It could definitely stand to expand and broaden a bit more.

By the way, SBU is approximately 1.9 miles away from the nearest Bikram Yoga studio:
128 Old Town Road
East Setauket
