NYU and New York Times love Local East Village

Local East Village Blog

The Local East Village blog is a blog that New York University’s Journalism program and New York Times are in charge of which publishes stories that are user-generated as well as student produced stories. The blog allows users to publish stories about the East Village through the use of “virtual assignment desk” and is very user-friendly with the easy navigation and search bar.  The site allows users to connect to social networking sites and comment on each story. Although it’s an ideal site for anyone to become a journalist, it lacks the verification that stories published are in fact true and are not one-sided stories. This site is extremely “local” in the sense that it focuses on local stories that may not be important national but affect people living in the East Village.
