Facebook Takes Over While Users Fall For Same Scams

November 30, 2010 § Leave a comment

This week the news has been celebrity focused between Lindsay Lohan being released from rehab and Justin Bieber’s latest lip sung cd just released, it’s surprising that news actually published stories about Wikileaks releasing government files.

As much as Facebook is helping social networking change with linking Twitter and MySpace to the site, it’s frightening to see how much a change the site as over gone in a past few years.

A few years ago things were barely publicized to others and status updates were based on song lyrics or whatever nonsense comes to a person’s mind.

The site now publishes every last interaction friends have together and status updates are including breaking news from users leaving news organization with no other choice but to jump on the  Facebook bandwagon.

Live video streams of Presidential conferences are now being broadcast from the site and hackers are on the prowl creating scams daily.

Beward This Scam

There’s a new scam out which hackers post on a users a wall the comment ”  “OMG OMG OMG… I cant believe this actually works! Now you really can see who viewed your profile!” with a link to a site which asks for approval of an app use then once approve the scam does nothing but posts the same comment on all your friends walls.

It’s unclear how the scam as been used on nearly 60,000 users when just like scams that were advertising the installation of a ‘dislike button’ didn’t work out wouldn’t everyone catch on to it being fake? Similar to being told not to take candy from a stranger as a child maybe it’s time to advertise not to take links from a stranger with Facebook.
