The promise of Google TV to let you ‘watch what you want, wherever it comes from, all on your HDTV’ — the exact words on the Logitech Revue Site — appears to be slowly evaporated.”

Google TV has suffered many drawbacks, and just when you thought the situation could not get any worse, it has. Google TV’s list of headaches has grown this week, as Viacom has added itself to the list of sites whose content is unable to be streamed on Google’s new content provider Google TV.

GTVHub noticed the block while trying to stream full episodes from their websites over the internet and the dreaded “Sorry, this content is unavailable for your device.” Some of the blocked stations include Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Spike TV, VH1, MTV and CMT.

After Viacom’s history with YouTube, it is not surprising that Viacom blocked Google TV, although some ae surprised that it didn’t happen sooner.

“We’re in the early phases of Google TV and already have strong partnerships with Best Buy, Logitech and Sony, among others,” a YouTube spokesman said in a statement. So channels will hopefully be available soon, but no ono knows of specific details yet.

“We are excited about the opportunities our new platform creates for both established media companies like Turner and HBO, and tens of thousands of content creators large and small. Google TV enables access to all the web content you already get today on your phone and PC, but it is ultimately the content owner’s choice to restrict users from accessing their content on the platform.”

For now, a user agent fix has worked its way around Fox problems to allow leakage of some shows, however, you can cross Viacom off your list.
